1. What is File Monitor?
You need to be notified when files, folders or their contents are modified by someone? You want to monitor the content of particular folders or dropboxes? You want to monitor the modification of particular files?
Then File Monitor is what you need!

File Monitor allows you to be notified of modifications occurring to any kind of files.
- You can monitor several files and folders at the same time.
- You can drag and drop files and folders to add them in the monitoring window.
- You can automatically add folders inside a root folder recursively.
- You can adjust the monitoring period.
- It can automatically start monitoring at launch.
- You can open modified files when their modification is detected.
- It can automatically send a full detailed email to any recipients when a modification is detected.
- It can monitor modification dates, and/or sizes, and/or numbers of contained files (for folders).
- It can automatically continue to monitor after a modification is detected.
- It can bounce its icon when a modification is detected.
- It can speak when a modification is detected.
- It doesn't need any installation which makes it very easy to use.
- It is available in Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Russian, Spanish and many other languages.

Under MacOS 10.13 High Sierra, if you're launching the Application for the first time, MacOS' GateKeeper (which you can configure in the "System Preferences") will refuse to launch it because you've not downloaded it from the Mac App Store (but from our website). In this case, instead of double-clicking on it, all you have to do is to right-click on the Application's icon, and then select the "Open" menu. A message will appear in which you'll be able to confirm that you want to launch the Application (even if it was not downloaded from the Mac App Store from an Identified Developper).

Version 8.0:
- A full recompilation has been made to be compatible with El Capitan and Sierra, and as Universal Binary to keep being compatible with both old (PowerPC) Macs and recent (Intel) Macs.

Version 7.0:
- A full recompilation has been made to be compatible with Mountain Lion, Mavericks and Yosemite.

- The About window can now be closed faster just by clicking on it.

- A problem when saving the preferences at shutdown has been corrected, because of MacOS' non-safe way of quitting the applications at shutdown.

- A warning has been added in case the selected default voice in the Speech panel of the System Preferences is "Vicki".
- Another voice than "Vicki" must be selected because there is a bug in Apple's "Vicki" voice that makes File Monitor crash.

2. How to register?
As long as you use it unregistered this Application works normally, but it has a time limit and annoying windows (Registration window, Popup windows, ...).
To register it you just have to purchase a registration code on our website.

3. How to install it?
No particular installation is required. Once you've downloaded the ".dmg" package from our website, it should uncompress automatically (in your "Downloads" folder or on your Desktop). If it does not, then you can double-click on it to uncompress it.
Then you just have to move the created folder into your "Applications" folder (or any other location) and double-click on the Application to launch it.

Particular case of MacOS 11 Big Sur:

Under MacOS 11 Big Sur, if you're launching the Application for the first time, MacOS' GateKeeper (which you can configure in the "System Preferences") will refuse to launch it because you've not downloaded it from the Mac App Store (but from our website). In this case, instead of double-clicking on it, all you have to do is to right-click on the Application's icon, and then select the "Open" menu. NB: We're not distributing our Applications through the Mac App Store, because Apple's fees policy on the Mac App Store is not financially respectful of developers and small and medium companies, and consequently, at the end, of customers.

4. How to uninstall it?
There should be no reason to do this. ;-)
However, if you really want, then you just have to throw the Application into the trash, and that's all.

5. How to use it?
The "Monitored file and folders" list box:
It lists the monitored files and folders. You can drag and drop new files and folders on the list to add them.

The "Add file" push button:
It allows you to add a file to the list of monitored items.

The "Add folder" push button:
It allows you to add a folder to the list of monitored items.
It asks you if you want to perform a simple or a recursive addition. If you choose the simple addition, only the selected folder will be added to the list of monitored items. If you choose the recursive addition, all subfolders inside the selected folder will be added to the list of monitored items. The recursive operation may take a few seconds but then it allows you to monitor the selected folder in depth.

The "Remove" push button:
It allows you to remove the selected files and folders from the list of monitored items.

The "Timer" group box:
It allows you to enter the monitoring period, to start and stop the monitoring process. The timer indicates the remaining time until the next checking.

The "Checked modifications" group box:
It allows you to select which modifications are checked.

The "When a modification is detected" group box:
It allows you to select the behavior of the application when a modification is detected. It can even automatically send an email.
