1. What is CPU Speed Accelerator?
You want to increase the power of your Mac? At very low cost? You want to increase by 20% to 30% the speed of your applications without spending money in new hardware? You want to automatically always make the most of the power of your CPU to the foreground application you are using?
Then CPU Speed Accelerator is what you need!

CPU Speed Accelerator allows you to drastically increase the CPU allocated to your foreground applications to make the most of the power of your Mac.
- It can increase by up to 30% the power of your Mac.
- It automatically detects the foreground application you are using.
- It redirects unused processing power of your CPU to the foreground application.
- You can set the percentage of acceleration between 0% and 100%.
- It tells the Process Manager of the UNIX layer of Mac OS X to always assign the maximum priority to the foreground application.
- It appears in the right side of the menu bar.
- It doesn't need any installation which makes it very easy to use.
- It is absolutely not harmful at all for you Mac and your Applications, since it does not modify anything on your Mac but just optimizes its processing power, only when the application is running.
- It is available in Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Traditional Chinese, Turkish and many other languages.

Version 8.0:
- A full recompilation has been made to be compatible with El Capitan and Sierra, and as Universal Binary to keep being compatible with both old (PowerPC) Macs and recent (Intel) Macs.
- The "How to intall it?" paragraph of the documentation has been updated to explain how to install and launch the Application in particular under Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.9 Mavericks, 10.10 Yosemite, 10.11 El Capitan and 10.12 Sierra:
Under Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.9 Mavericks, 10.10 Yosemite, 10.11 El Capitan and 10.12 Sierra, if you're launching the Application for the first time, maybe Mac OS X's GateKeeper (which you can configure in the "System Preferences") will refuse to launch it because you've not downloaded it from the Mac App Store (but from our website). In this case, instead of double-clicking on it, all you have to do is to right-click on the Application's icon, and then select the "Open" menu. A message will appear in which you'll be able to confirm that you want to launch the Application (even if it was not downloaded from the Mac App Store from an Identified Developper).

Version 7.0:
- A full recompilation has been made to be compatible with Mountain Lion, Mavericks and Yosemite.

3. How to install it?
No particular installation is required. Once you've downloaded the ".dmg" package from our website, it should uncompress automatically (in your "Downloads" folder or on your Desktop). If it does not, then you can double-click on it to uncompress it.
Then you just have to move the created folder into your "Applications" folder (or any other location) and double-click on the Application to launch it.

Particular case of Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.9 Mavericks, 10.10 Yosemite, 10.11 El Capitan and 10.12 Sierra:

NB: We're not distributing our Applications through the Mac App Store, because Apple's fees policy on the Mac App Store is not financially respectful of developers and small and medium companies, and consequently, at the end, of customers.

4. How to uninstall it?
There should be no reason to do this. ;-)
However, if you really want, then you just have to throw the Application into the trash, and that's all.

5. How to use it?
Launch it and enter your Mac OS X administrator password in the Preferences window.
It appears in the right side of the menu bar.
The best way to use it is to add it in the Login items (in the System Preferences panel) so that it is automatically launched each time you turn your Mac on.

The "Preferences..." menu:
It allows you to open the application Preferences window.
Enter your Mac OS X administrator password and click "Activate" to activate the acceleration.
NB: For general security reasons your Mac OS X administrator password must not be blank; you must have a real password, and enter it in CPU Speed Accelerator.
Set the percentage of acceleration to assign between 0% and 100%: 0% means no acceleration at all and 100% means full acceleration.
When the acceleration is FAILED it means that you did not enter the right password. The application needs your Mac OS X administrator password to always give the maximum priority to the foreground application.
When the acceleration is ACTIVE it means that the application automatically detects the foreground application and that it redirects unused power of your CPU to this application. The power of your Mac can be increased by up to 30%.
This is all the more efficient as your applications use intensively the CPU (such as games, video, 3D, animation, calculations, etc...). The more you need power, the more you get!

The "Quit" menu:
It allows you to quit the application.
When you quit the application the acceleration stops of course.

If you want to give more CPU to your background applications, you just need to reduce a bit the percentage of acceleration assigned to your foreground application.

If you can't turn the acceleration to ACTIVE (i.e. if it remains FAILED), then you must check that your account has "admin" rights (in the Account panel of the System Preferences).
If your account does not have "admin" rights, then you can't activate the acceleration.
Ask the administrator of your Mac (who has "admin" rights) to turn your account into an "admin" account (by giving you "admin" rights in his own System Preferences).
If you are the administrator of your Mac (i.e. e.g. if there is only one account on your Mac which is your account), then you should not have any problem because you should have "admin" rights by default.

If the acceleration remains FAILED and if your password contains very special characters, try to change your password in the System Preferences so that it contains more common characters.
